Jubilee Gardens and SEA LIFE join forces to keep the Gardens clean

Jubilee Gardens Sea Life

The Jubilee Gardens team joined forces for a day with neighbouring SEA LIFE London as part of their conservation activities to keep the Gardens clean for the enjoyment of residents, local businesses and visitors.

A special mention goes to ‘Susty’ the Sustainability Superhero for making the day super fun!

Thanks to @bablands.london for this great review o Thanks to @bablands.london for this great review of our updated playground. Why not come down and check it out this weekend?

The Jubilee Gardens playground has reopened following a month-long refurbishment and it’s SO much better now! Roma isn’t usually that bothered by this playground but today she didn’t want to leave, which just shows how badly it was crying out for younger kids’ equipment (the new stuff is great for older ones too though, don’t worry!). The new ship-like arrangement is made up of three wooden structures connected by wobbly bridges, and includes a slide, a climbing wall, ladders, ramps, rope ladders, a helm and more. There are also some of those wobbly boats they have in the Diana Memorial playground, a metal platform that tips when you stand on it, and spinning metal cups (big ones, not the mooncup type). All of this is in addition to the big kids’ log assault course and the toddlers’ play house and slide that was already there (I don’t think they’ve got rid of anything aside from the wooden sheep and rocking chicken, but I could be wrong). One of the questions I get asked most on here is “are there any good playgrounds on the South Bank?”, and I usually have to say there’s this one but it’s not great for younger ones… but now it is! Hooray!
Location: Belvedere Road, SE1 7PG (nearest station Waterloo).
Combine with: Tate Modern, Royal Festival Hall, The Artist’s Garden (above Temple tube station), Somerset House, Draughts Waterloo, House of Vans.
Twin suitability: the playground is enclosed but often very busy so you’ll need eyes in the back of your head if you’ve got more than one tiny one in tow 👀

This weekend, the UK celebrates the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, commemorating 70 years on the throne.

Ten years ago, the reimagined Jubilee Gardens, one of our flagship projects, were opened on the 25th of October, 2012 in time for the Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Summer Olympics. First created to celebrate The Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, the reimagining saw the gardens transformed from a former flat site into a soft, green and sustainable landscape of the highest quality.
.
Slightly elevated from street level, Jubilee Gardens remains a lush, timeless and welcoming garden for the South Bank, with gently sloping topography and elegant granite edges.
